The fight - Blog 3

Aha! There are the pigs, tendrils of vines brushing across their skin. Their skin, it will make great bacon, nicely tanned in the broiling sun, so juicy and good. All we've been eating is fruits. I can't take it! I need some fresh meat to gnaw my teeth in. Oh, how good that would feel. If only I had something sharper on the end of my spear, I could kill them with one blow. I wish I could find a barb, that would be great for hunting. Hey, they are trying to get away In the festooned vines of the forest. There not getting away, not this time, for I am very furtive so I will catch them by surprise. I just had to kill one of those plump pigs so I just threw my spear. I missed! I went to go pick up my spear and by the time I got to it, the pigs were long gone. At this I made my way out of the forest and back to camp. I was so parched I asked Ralph for some water. I was bewildered about the fact that Ralph looked at me, but he didn't seem to know I was there. It was very odd, so I asked him again. He told me there was some under the tree and I drank some refreshing water out of a coconut shell. Then I looked out into the horizon, and the ocean glimmered in the sunlight. Then Ralph started complaining about how only Simon and Piggy had helped him build the huts. He said I have been hunting for days and haven't found anything. He was just flaunting his power in my face, and just kept whining about how I wasn't helping. If I was in charge I would make them work and be a lot more strict. I would be very oppressive until all the other kids listened and did what I said. Ralph was being a horrible leader, all talk and no action. They should have made me the leader. I told Ralph that I needed to keep hunting because we needed meat, but he didn't seem to understand that. All I could think about was catching a pig, something for the other to admire. To show that I am superior to them with my great hunting skills. Why haven't I caught one yet anyways? I'm a great hunter, they just disappear during the day as if they've vanished. They must be way up there on the hill sunbathing, there such lazy animals. Ralph kept talking even though I was barely paying attention and hadn't been listening to most of what he had been saying. Then Piggy started interrupting us, when it was none of his business what we were talking about. He's such a fatty. Then we all looked back to the shelter and Simon was gone. He's such an inscrutable kid, I don't understand why he does the things he does. I wonder where he went...

Hey.
Your journal is very good and detailed
I like this sentence a lot,
Then I looked out into the horizon, and the ocean glimmered in the sunlight.
Good job!

Hey Maya-
I really liked the way you wrote in Jacks perspective. It really showed a strong opinion about Ralph, "Fatty" and his hunting. I have a technical error about his missing the pig... He actually hurt the pig and almost got him but than his spear broke. Also it is one long paragraph so you might want to break it up. Good job!

I read a lot of really long stories, but yours is the perfect length. Great job really describing the scene with the pig and what happened exactly. I'm not sure what else to say other than this is a perfect example of what to write!
